Rebrov: This was a very important win for the team and country
Serhiy Rebrov, head coach of the Ukrainian national team, in an interview with the UEFA press service, shared his emotions from the victory over Slovakia in today's Euro 2024 match.
Two goals of the blue-yellows were scored by Mykola Shaparenko and Roman Yaremchuk.
"We changed some positions in our high press at half-time. The players who came off the bench improved us. Most importantly, we showed our spirit. We really tried to change the result and deserved the win.
We did very badly against Romania but they showed a different spirit and deserved the win. We need to focus on the next game, but this was a very important win for the team and for the country.
I didn't shout [at half-time]. We had to react in the second half. We weren't pressing high enough. We understood this was our chance and that's what I said. I said 'don't worry about the score and just go for it", said Rebrov.
