The hosts started Euro-2024 with an ideal performance

Julian Nagelsmann, Germany coach, speaking after the first Euro-2024 game against Scotland.

The hosts started Euro-2024 with an ideal performance - scoring three times before the break and adding two more through substitutes Füllkrug and Can. Ten-man Scotland managed to answer only once after an own goal by Rudiger

"The first 20 minutes were very good. Scotland showed us respect and probably showed us even more after we scored our first two goals. The first goal, in particular, was very well played. It wasn't easy to score because there were a lot of Scottish bodies in the way. The important thing is that we scored a lot of goals.

We've taken our first step and we'll look to build on that. We'll do what we can to win in Stuttgart. I'll let the players rest tomorrow, then on Sunday we'll start our preparations [for Hungary]. The team give me a lot of energy – it's a lot of fun with that group of players. The team did very well and I'm very happy about it", said Nagelsmann.

Germany will play its next Eero-2024 against Hungary on June 19th.
