Zinchenko - about the victory over Iceland

Ukraine national team defender Oleksandr Zinchenko shared his opinion about the victory over Iceland in the final of the Euro-2024 qualifying play-off.

Serhiy Rebrov's team conceded first in today's match, but managed to turn the game after the break with two accurate shots from outside the penalty areaby Victor Tsygankov and Mykhailo Mudryk - 2:1.

"The atmosphere after the match was incredible, emotions ran high, - said Zinchenko. - Today, we all understood that the result is the most important. We played not only for ourselves and our families, but also for every Ukrainian.

Our fans helped a lot. They constantly pushed us to score. It is thanks to them that we achieved this result - it is 100 percent.

During the break, Rebrov gave some advice on tactics, what we need to do, and also "fired up" the team. He found the right words to use.

Before coming to the pitch I understood what had to be done given that the score was 1-1. Observing the game, it was clear that the opponents were a little out of it - we had to finish them."

At Euro-2024, the national team of Ukraine will play in the group with the teams of Romania, Slovakia and Belgium.
