Bayern Munich secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory away to SC Freiburg, but what looked like a comfortable afternoon for the visitors nearly turned into a nervy finale in the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians were without head coach Vincent Kompany, who was reportedly ill, as well as several key players sidelined through injury. Despite those absences, Bayern Munich dominated for much of the contest. Dayot Upamecano broke the deadlock midway through the first half with an impressive solo run, before Serge Gnabry doubled the visitors' advantage just before the interval.

Bayern Munich had opportunities to put the game beyond reach after the break but failed to make them count. Their missed chances proved costly when an own goal from Tom Bischof handed Freiburg a lifeline and set up a tense finish.

The hosts pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig produced a crucial save to prevent further damage. With Freiburg committing players forward in search of a late breakthrough, Michael Olise struck into an empty net to make it 3-1 and finally secure all three points for the visitors.
