Liverpool - Villarreal 4:3

Liverpool produced a stunning comeback at Anfield, recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat Villarreal 4-3 in a pulsating UEFA Champions League encounter. The Reds endured a nightmare start but showed tremendous character to turn the game around.

The visitors stunned the home crowd with two goals inside the opening 30 minutes. Georges Mikautadze opened the scoring before Sergi Cardona doubled Villarreal's advantage, leaving Liverpool facing an uphill battle. The Spanish side looked firmly in control, but the hosts refused to surrender.

Liverpool found a crucial response before half-time, with Alexis Mac Allister pulling one back before Ronald Araujo struck to restore parity. The comeback transformed the atmosphere at Anfield and set the stage for a dramatic second half.

After the break, the Merseyside club stepped up the pressure and completed the turnaround. Mac Allister scored his second goal of the night to put Liverpool ahead, before Florian Wirtz added a fourth to give the Reds what appeared to be a decisive cushion.

However, Villarreal refused to go quietly. Tani Oluwaseyi reduced the deficit late on, setting up a tense finale as the visitors searched desperately for another equaliser. Liverpool held firm under pressure to secure all three points in a thrilling European contest.
