UCL: Guirassy Fires Borussia Dortmund to Victory Over Sabah
Borussia Dortmund managed to get a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Azerbaijani side Sabah FK in the UEFA Champions League, with striker Serhou Guirassy scoring twice to seal all three points for the German giants.
The Black and Yellows made an early breakthrough in the 10th minute, when Guirassy reacted quickest to a goalkeeping error by Stas Pokatilov, pouncing on the rebound to put Dortmund ahead.
Sabah responded with determination and drew level through Aden McCarthy, who powered a header into the net following a well-worked free-kick routine. The equaliser gave the hosts renewed belief as they looked to challenge their more illustrious opponents.
However, Borussia Dortmund eventually made their superior quality count after the break. Guirassy struck again, converting a delivery from Joey Veerman to restore the visitors' lead and complete his brace.
The closing stages brought further drama, with both sides missing several promising opportunities to alter the scoreline. Despite the late pressure, Dortmund held firm to claim a valuable away win in the Champions League.
