Hull City - Manchester United 2:0

Hull City produced a stunning result in the second match of the new Premier League season, beating Manchester United 2-0 in front of their home supporters. The promoted side delivered an early reality check to one of English football's biggest names.

Manchester United arrived with ambitions of following the example set by Arsenal, who had opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over fellow newcomers Coventry City. The Red Devils, however, quickly discovered that Hull City had no intention of playing the role of willing underdogs.

The hosts stunned their visitors before half-time. Ajayi opened the scoring before Mendy added a second, giving Hull City a 2-0 advantage that would prove decisive.

Manchester United were unable to find a response after the interval, leaving Hull City to celebrate a memorable victory. For the newly promoted side, it was the perfect way to announce their return to the top flight; for the Red Devils, it was a painful reminder that the Premier League offers no easy games.
