Dynamo Kyiv celebrated their first European victory of the new season with a narrow 1-0 win over Qarabag. The decisive moment came courtesy of Matvii Ponomarenko, whose goal proved enough to hand the Ukrainian side a valuable first-leg advantage.

Elsewhere, the teams that had previously overcome Ukrainian opposition continued their impressive runs. Gent edged past IFK Göteborg 1-0 away from home, while FC Copenhagen produced one of the most convincing performances of the evening by defeating Debreceni VSC 3-0 on the road.

The night's most entertaining contest came in Lithuania, where Žalgiris and Hajduk Split combined for seven goals. The Croatian visitors emerged as 5-2 winners after an attacking masterclass, putting themselves in a commanding position ahead of the second leg.
