PSG Snatch French Super Cup Glory from Marseille
Paris Saint-Germain continue to stockpile silverware, but each new trophy now comes at an increasing cost. This time, the Trophée des Champions was not won — it was clawed away from Olympique de Marseille in dramatic and agonising fashion.
For long spells, it was Marseille who looked destined to lift the French Super Cup. Roberto De Zerbi’s side were in control and leading 2–1 deep into stoppage time, seemingly just moments away from glory. But football, once again, proved cruel.
On the fifth minute of added time, Gonçalo Ramos emerged as PSG’s unlikely saviour, forcing home a dramatic equaliser that silenced the Marseille supporters and dragged the contest into a penalty shoot-out. It was a punch from which the southern giants never truly recovered.
With momentum firmly swung towards Paris, the shoot-out became a one-sided affair. Marseille crumbled under pressure, converting just one of their spot-kicks in a disastrous display from twelve yards. PSG, ruthless as ever in decisive moments, kept their composure — and once again the trophy was heading back to the French capital.
