Norris Dominates Brazilian GP Qualifying as Verstappen Suffers Shock Exit in Q1

Lando Norris continued his dream weekend at the São Paulo Grand Prix, securing pole position for Sunday’s main race just 24 hours after winning the sprint. The McLaren driver delivered a stunning lap of 1:09.511 in the final minutes of qualifying to cap off a near-perfect performance at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.
Joining Norris on the front row will be Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes, who finished just 0.174 seconds behind, while Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) secured third on the grid. Norris’s main title rival — his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri — could only manage fourth place, trailing the Briton by 0.375 seconds after struggling with balance through the middle sector.
The biggest shock of the session came from Red Bull, as both cars were eliminated early in qualifying. Yuki Tsunoda finished second-to-last, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen could do no better than 16th — his worst starting position of the 2025 season.
