Argentina Triumphs, Brazil Stumbles: Drama at the FIFA U-20 World Cup
It was a tale of contrasting fortunes for South America’s football giants at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025, as Argentina cruised to victory while Brazil were held to a frustrating draw.
In Group D, the young Albiceleste took care of business against Cuba, securing a 3-1 win. While the scoreline suggests dominance, the match remained on a knife-edge until the closing stages, with Argentina finally pulling away late on.
Over in Group C, however, things didn’t go according to plan for Brazil. Facing a spirited Mexico side, the Seleção fell behind early but bounced back with two well-taken goals. With just minutes left, victory looked certain — until the 86th minute, when Mexico found an equaliser to snatch a dramatic 2-2 draw.
Current title holders Uruguay remain the team to beat, having lifted the trophy in 2023 with a memorable win over Italy in the final. That tournament was hosted by Argentina, though the hosts were surprisingly knocked out in the Round of 16.
