Viktor Gyökeres has been recognised for his outstanding goalscoring exploits, claiming the prestigious Gerd Müller Trophy at this year’s Paris gala. The Swedish striker, who starred for Sporting Lisbon during the 2024/25 campaign, finished as the world’s top scorer.

Gyökeres netted an incredible 63 goals across club and country – 54 for Sporting and 9 with the Swedish national team. His prolific form not only underlined his status as one of Europe’s deadliest finishers but also ensured his name is etched among the game’s elite.

The tally represents the second-highest total since the award’s inception. Only inaugural winner Robert Lewandowski has bettered it, scoring 69 times in the 2020/21 season.
