Oscar Piastri Wins Belgian Grand Prix as McLaren< Celebrate 1–2 Finish
Oscar Piastri claimed a victory at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, leading a brilliant McLaren 1–2 finish at the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2025 season.
The race was delayed by one hour and 15 minutes due to heavy rain, forcing a rolling start under wet conditions. As the track gradually dried, the entire grid switched from full wets to slicks — and that’s when Piastri took full control.
Following the tyre change, the Australian opened up a 10-second lead over teammate Lando Norris. While Norris began closing the gap, three costly driving errors lost him crucial seconds and effectively ended his challenge for the win.
It was Piastri’s eighth career victory, and the result sees him extend his lead over Norris to 16 points in the Drivers' Championship.
Charles Leclerc secured third place for Ferrari, finishing just under two seconds ahead of reigning world champion Max Verstappen, who had a quiet race in the Red Bull.
The crowd favourite, however, was Lewis Hamilton, who was voted Driver of the Day. Starting 16th on the grid, Hamilton made early gains in wet conditions and was the first to gamble by switching to medium tyres — a move that paid off handsomely. The Ferrari driver surged through the field to finish in P7, showing flashes of vintage brilliance.
