Norris Takes Emotional Home Win, Hülkenberg Stuns with First-Ever Podium

Lando Norris delivered a perfect performance at Silverstone to win the rain-affected British Grand Prix, while Nico Hülkenberg showed a remarkable drive to claim his first-ever Formula 1 podium.

Despite another impressive 1-2 finish for McLaren, the drama wasn’t limited to the papaya cars. Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri were both contenders for the win, but costly errors in changing conditions dashed their hopes. The reigning champion spun out in wet conditions and dropped to the midfield, while Piastri was handed a 10-second penalty for slowing excessively under the safety car.

That left Norris to control the race brilliantly in front of his home crowd, securing a commanding and emotional victory at Silverstone - his fourth win of the 2025 season and arguably the most meaningful of his career.

But the standout story of the race was undoubtedly Nico Hülkenberg. Starting from 19th on the grid, the Sauber driver navigated the chaos with clinical precision. After climbing into fourth, he overtook Lance Stroll for third and then held off a late charge from Lewis Hamilton to seal his first podium finish in a career spanning over 200 Grand Prix entries. It’s a moment that’s been 15 years in the making for the 36-year-old German.
