Busquets rallies Inter Miami ahead of crucial Porto clash
Sergio Busquets insists Inter Miami are ready to give their all in tonight’s FIFA Club World Cup showdown with Porto, as the MLS side looks to take a major step forward in the group stage.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated fixture, the veteran midfielder acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead — but made it clear his side won't back down.
“We’re going into the game with the hunger to win. We know it’s going to be a very difficult match — we don’t have much experience in international tournaments — but we want to improve on our first performance and play with enthusiasm and ambition,” Busquets told FIFA.com.
Respect for Porto’s pedigree
Busquets praised Porto's structure and the influence of their manager, Martín Anselmi, while highlighting the quality and depth within the Portuguese squad.
“They have a clear system put in place by their coach. They've strengthened well, brought in talented players, and compete every year with big clubs like Sporting and Benfica. It won’t be easy,” he said.
Focus on unity and discipline
Despite the challenge, the former Barcelona captain stressed the importance of a collective effort and defensive solidity.
“We’ll aim to be united and work as a team. From there, we hope to express ourselves individually. Above all, we want to compete well and try to keep a clean sheet,” Busquets added.
Kick-off between Inter Miami and Porto is set for 21:00 CET.
