Formula 1: Russell Wins in Canada as Antonelli Claims First Career Podium
Mercedes celebrated a dream weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, with George Russell converting pole position into a commanding victory and 18-year-old sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli securing his maiden Formula 1 podium by finishing third.
Max Verstappen, the reigning World Champion, was unable to challenge Russell for the lead and had to settle for second place. Oscar Piastri, the current championship leader, came home fourth for McLaren, while teammate Lando Norris dramatically crashed out after colliding with Piastri in the closing stages — an incident that brought out the safety car to end the race.
Nico Hülkenberg produced one of the standout drives of the day. The veteran German driver dragged his Sauber into a surprising eighth-place finish, once again proving his value with limited machinery.
