Cristiano Ronaldo Rules Out FIFA Club World Cup Participation
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will not take part in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, despite receiving multiple invitations from participating teams.
Speaking ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League final against Spain, the 40-year-old forward stated:
“It’s almost certain that I won’t be playing in the FIFA Club World Cup, despite many offers and discussions. There were contacts and talks… but it’s important to think in terms of short-, medium-, and long-term goals.”
“Going to the Club World Cup doesn’t matter to me. The focus is the national team,” he added.
Ronaldo reiterated that his attention is now fully on Portugal, as he prepares for what is likely to be his final major international tournament — the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Portugal will face Spain tomorrow in the Nations League Final in Munich, with Ronaldo expected to lead the line once again for the Seleção.
