Formula 1: McLaren Lock Out Front Row at Spanish Grand Prix
McLaren have dominated qualifying at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, securing a front-row lockout for the first time in the 2025 season as the championship battle heats up.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri produced a blistering lap at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to claim pole position, finishing two-tenths of a second ahead of his teammate Lando Norris in P2.
Behind the McLaren duo, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and George Russell of Mercedes will share the second row after setting identical lap times — a rare occurrence in Formula 1 qualifying.
The third row sees Lewis Hamilton, now racing for Ferrari, alongside Mercedes’ rising star Andrea Kimi Antonelli. They’re followed by Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Isack Hadjar (RB), and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who rounded out the top ten in front of his home crowd.
