Record-Breaking Champions League Season Nears Historic Finale

This season has officially become the highest-scoring Champions League campaign of all time, with an astonishing 613 goals scored ahead of the final. The previous record has been shattered, thanks in part to the expanded format and increased number of fixtures under UEFA’s revamped regulations.

But the most impressive figure might just be the one that cuts through all structural changes — the average goals per game. This season's average stands at a remarkable 3.2606 goals per match, making it the most prolific in terms of scoring rate since the Champions League was rebranded in 1992.

The previous best was set during the 2019/20 campaign, when matches averaged 3.24 goals. That mark has now been surpassed, confirming the 2024/25 edition as the most entertaining in modern Champions League history.
