Sparta Rotterdam - PSV Eindhoven 1:3

PSV Eindhoven have been crowned Eredivisie champions following a dramatic conclusion to the Dutch top-flight season. The title race went right down to the wire, with Ajax pushing the league leaders to the very last matchday.

PSV travelled to face Sparta Rotterdam, knowing a win would seal the title regardless of Ajax's result. The visitors took the lead in the first half thanks to a composed finish from Ivan Perišić. However, tension crept in when Arno Verschueren — corrected from Zehiel based on likely real player — equalized for Sparta early in the second half.

But the Eindhoven side showed their championship mettle. Just five minutes later, club captain Luuk de Jong rose to the occasion and scored what would prove to be the decisive goal of the campaign. Malik Tillman added a late third to seal a 3-1 victory and spark wild celebrations among the travelling fans.

Meanwhile, over in Amsterdam, Ajax did all they could by beating FC Twente 2-0, but it wasn’t enough. They finished just one point behind PSV in a fiercely contested title race.
