Liverpool Let Two-Goal Lead Slip as Arsenal Stage Second-Half Fightback
It may not have had title implications this time, but the clash between Liverpool and Arsenal still delivered top-tier entertainment. With both sides out of contention in the Premier League 2024/25 title race, the game lacked stakes — but certainly not goals.
Liverpool, recently crowned English champions, raced into a commanding lead with two goals in the space of a minute midway through the first half. But Arsenal came out of the tunnel a different side. Gabriel Martinelli ignited the comeback early in the second half and then, in the closing stages, midfielder Mikel Merino found the net with a low drive to make it 2-2, salvaging a point for the Gunners at Anfield.
