Late Santiago Giménez Double Fires AC Milan to Comeback Win Over Bologna
AC Milan produced a spirited second-half turnaround to claim a dramatic 3-1 victory over Bologna on Matchday 36 of Serie A, keeping their hopes for European qualification alive.
The Rossoneri marked the occasion with a specially designed kit in celebration of Mother’s Day, traditionally held in Italy on the second Sunday of May. But the festivities were nearly spoiled when Bologna took the lead shortly after the restart through a composed finish by Riccardo Orsolini.
However, Christian Pulisic brought Milan level with a well-taken strike, before substitute Santiago Giménez—introduced by head coach Sérgio Conceição in the 65th minute—turned the match on its head with a decisive brace that electrified the crowd at the San Siro.
The win lifts AC Milan into 8th place in the Serie A standings, while Bologna, who had impressed for much of the season, remain 7th as the race for European spots tightens.
