Despite suffering a heavy 0–3 defeat to Newcastle, Leicester City made Premier League history on a more optimistic note by handing a debut to Jeremy Monga, a player born in 2009.

The 15-year-old winger stepped onto the pitch at just 15 years and 271 days old, making him the second-youngest player ever to feature in a Premier League match. The record still belongs to Ethan Nwaneri, who made his debut for Arsenal in 2022 at 15 years and 181 days. Monga now surpasses Harvey Elliott (16 years, 30 days for Fulham) in the all-time rankings.

Interestingly, Monga appeared in a sponsor-free kit due to regulations prohibiting advertising deals for players under 16 — a visual reminder of just how young he is.

A product of the Leicester City Academy, Monga typically plays as a left winger. In the 2024/25 season, he’s already made 14 appearances for Leicester’s youth sides, scoring 4 goals and registering 2 assists. His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City reportedly monitoring his progress.
