Thiago Motta has emerged as a serious contender to replace Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, according to reports from Tuttosport.

Despite Gasperini being under contract until the summer of 2026, there is growing speculation that he may leave Bergamo at the end of the season to succeed Claudio Ranieri at AS Roma.

Serie A: Fixtures, Results & Standings

Motta’s success at Bologna — where he has guided the team into European contention and nurtured breakout stars like Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori — has caught the attention of several top clubs. Atalanta see him as an ideal fit for their project, which has long focused on developing young talent and playing attractive, aggressive football.

Tuttosport also reports that there’s a possibility Motta could return to France, where he spent six years of his playing career with Paris Saint-Germain, though the identity of the interested club remains unclear.

With managerial movements expected across Europe this summer, Motta’s next destination could prove to be one of the most intriguing stories of the offseason.
