Son Heung-min: Asian Teams Are Getting Better Every Year
South Korea captain Son Heung-min reflected on his side’s third consecutive draw in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, following a 1-1 result against Jordan.
“We are still top of the table and it’s very important that we stay positive and keep moving forward, keep working hard. We know that the last two games will be tough, but if we do well we will finish on top and progress.” Son told FIFA.com.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward also highlighted the steady rise in quality among Asian national teams.
“I’ve spoken many times about the standard in Asia and the fact that teams are getting better and better every single year," he said. "It’s definitely so much tougher here than ten, even five, years ago. That makes things more, and more interesting and that’s a great sign for football right across Asia.”
South Korea currently lead their qualifying group but are only three points ahead of Jordan, with two matches left to play.
