As the transfer market heats up, it’s no surprise that all eyes are on one particular group — players whose contracts expire this summer. These are the most accessible, most tempting names on the market. Terrikon.com takes a look at the top 10 most valuable free agents of the upcoming window.

10. Angel Gomes (Lille) – €25 million
A product of Manchester United’s academy, Angel Gomes has grown into a well-rounded attacking midfielder at Lille, even earning call-ups to the England national team. With his contract expiring, a return to Old Trafford is being considered. Rúben Amorim is also reportedly a fan, and several Premier League clubs are circling. At 24, Gomes will have plenty of options.

9. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – €27 million
Injuries and a dip in form have seen Kevin De Bruyne’s value fall, and his role at Manchester City is no longer guaranteed. He’s been linked to Saudi Arabia, and his next move may depend on whether he prioritises footballing relevance or a final big payday. Either way, the Belgian playmaker’s future is a major talking point this summer.

8. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Napoli) – €27 million
Napoli are keen to trigger a two-year extension clause in Anguissa’s deal. The 29-year-old has been a consistent presence in midfield and has the full backing of Antonio Conte. Both sides seem content, but nothing is official yet.

7. Olivier Boscagli (PSV) – €27 million
A rock in PSV’s backline, Boscagli is entering his prime at 27. Fenerbahçe have shown strong interest, and Brighton are also monitoring the French defender. However, PSV may yet convince him to stay if a decent renewal offer is tabled.

6. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – €28 million
Now 33, Virgil van Dijk is no longer the untouchable figure he once was. Liverpool haven’t ruled out a renewal but are yet to present a firm offer. Meanwhile, PSG are believed to be in contact. The Dutchman may have one last big contract in him.

5. Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen) – €30 million
The German centre-back has been pushing for an exit for over a year due to disagreements with Bayer Leverkusen’s management. Hansi Flick wants him at Barcelona, but stylistic concerns have raised doubts. This one could go either way.

4. Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich) – €40 million
Sané is unhappy with his current role at Bayern, and talks over a new contract have stalled. Arsenal are ready to offer him a fresh start, and the German winger is reportedly open to the move — even if it means accepting a pay cut.

3. Jonathan David (Lille) – €45 million
The Canadian striker is ready for a bigger stage after years of strong performances in Ligue 1. La Liga is his preferred destination, though a move to Barcelona now looks unlikely given Ferran Torres’ recent form. Newcastle made a bid, but David declined.

2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – €55 million
At 32, Salah remains one of the best in the world. Contract talks with Liverpool are going nowhere fast, and his cryptic messages on social media have fuelled speculation. Arne Slot wants to keep him, but a lucrative move abroad can’t be ruled out.

1. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) – €75 million
The most valuable free agent of 2025. Trent Alexander-Arnold looks destined for Real Madrid, with Spanish media claiming a deal is almost done. Liverpool seem resigned to losing him, having made little effort to retain their star full-back.
