McLaren driver Oscar Piastri secured his first-ever pole position in Formula 1, topping the qualifying session for the Chinese Grand Prix. The Australian set a blistering lap time of 1:30.641, narrowly edging out George Russell of Mercedes, who will start second. Championship leader Lando Norris qualified third, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull will start fourth.

Lewis Hamilton, who won the sprint race earlier in the day, will start fifth for Ferrari, with his teammate Charles Leclerc in sixth. The main race of the Chinese Grand Prix is set to begin tomorrow at 08:00 CET.
