Fernandinho Could Return to Manchester City — as a Coach
Former Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho, who spent a significant portion of his playing career at the Etihad, may be on the verge of rejoining the club in a new role. According to reports from City Xtra, head coach Pep Guardiola has invited the Brazilian to join his backroom staff.
In January 2025, Fernandinho completed an official FIFA course in club management, qualifying him to work as a coach. Should he accept the offer, the 38-year-old would serve as one of Guardiola’s assistants, focusing on both tactics and player development.
During his playing days at Manchester City, Fernandinho made 383 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 31 assists—numbers that underscore his longstanding influence on the team. Now, his potential return in a coaching capacity hints at an equally significant contribution off the pitch.
