Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid

Despite a 1–2 loss against Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, central defender Clement Lenglet of Atletico Madrid maintained a positive outlook as he addressed the media in the mixed zone.

“In the end, football comes down to being precise at key moments, and Real Madrid were more precise than us tonight. They scored two goals; we only got one, so the result is fair.

We still have one more match at our place—another 90 minutes with our fans behind us. I believe that whoever wins that match will go through.”

Lenglet also explained the late tactical change by head coach Diego Simeone, who opted to replace a forward with a defender:

“Of course, I always prefer to win, but given how the game was going, the manager decided to switch the plan at 1–2. It’s all part of the strategy. There are many important matches ahead, and we need everyone fresh and ready for what comes next. We still have a chance in the second leg.”
