Reports: Parma Appoints Former Roma and Inter Milan Player as New Coach
Parma has decided to part ways with head coach Fabio Pecchia following a disappointing home loss to Roma.
The decision to sack the coach, who had only extended his contract with the club at the end of October, came after a series of poor results — Parma is on a seven-match winless streak in Serie A and currently sits near the bottom of the league table.
According to reports from the Italian press, the main candidate to replace Pecchia is former Roma, Inter Milan, and Romania international Christian Chivu. Initially, the club was interested in Igor Tudor, but has since shifted its focus to Chivu, whose coaching experience has so far been limited to youth teams at Inter Milan.
Famous insider Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chivu arrived in Parma on Monday evening and is currently in discussions with the club's management regarding the details of his contract.
