Lisandro Martinez, the defender for Manchester United, has successfully undergone surgery on his knee ligament, the club confirmed. The Argentina international was forced off the pitch on a stretcher during United's 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the 24th round of the Premier League.

Following the surgery, Martinez has begun a lengthy rehabilitation process that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the current season.

This season, the 27-year-old defender has played 32 matches for Manchester United across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
