Tottenham and Liverpool gave an early Christmas present to all football fans

Tottenham and Liverpool gave an early Christmas present to all football fans by playing the highest scoring match of the 2024/25 season in the English Premier League.

The Reds made the better start to today's game and by the 36th minute had already hit the hosts' goal twice after headers from Alexis McAllister and Luis Diaz. James Maddison gave Tottenham hope of getting back into the game by scoring four minutes before the break, but all his efforts were ruined in stoppage time of the first half when Mohamed Salah passed to Dominic Szoboszlai, who beat the goalkeeper to make the score 3-1.

In the second half, Salah repeated Billy Liddell's record of 228 goals for Liverpool, extending his side's lead in the 54th minute, and then moved into fourth place on the club's top scorers list when Szoboszlai repaid the Egyptian's assist and helped him score again.

In the end of the game, Tottenham reduced the gap to two goals through Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, but any hopes of a Spurs comeback were killed off by Luis Diaz, who sealed the match with an accurate low shot in the 85th minute - 6-3 in favour of Liverpool.
