RB Salzburg have parted ways with head coach Pepijn Lijnders following a series of disappointing results. The Dutchman, who joined the Austrian club from Liverpool last summer, has been dismissed after failing to meet expectations.

Salzburg’s Champions League campaign has been particularly underwhelming. Despite advancing past Dynamo Kyiv in the qualifiers, the team managed to secure just three points during the group stage and currently ranks 32nd in the competition.

In the Austrian Bundesliga, the situation hasn’t been much better. After 16 matches, Salzburg sit in fifth place with 26 points, well below their usual standards.

The decision to dismiss Lijnders signals a desire for change as Salzburg aim to recover their domestic and European form.
