Ruud van Nistelrooy

Former Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Leicester City. He becomes the club’s fourth manager in just 19 months, succeeding Steve Cooper, who was dismissed last weekend after overseeing only 12 Premier League games this season.

Leicester currently sits 16th in the Premier League table with 10 points from 12 matches, just one point above the relegation zone. The team faces a crucial fixture against Brentford tonight as they look to turn their fortunes around.

Van Nistelrooy, who impressed during his short stint as interim manager of Manchester United earlier this season, shared his thoughts on his new role:

“I’m proud, I’m excited. Everybody that I speak to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic. They have great stories about the quality of the people working at the Club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the Club is impressive. I’m excited to start and to get to know everyone and give everything I can for the Football Club.”

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend faces a challenging task as he aims to guide Leicester away from the bottom of the table and restore confidence among players and supporters alike.
