Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana has been honored with the prestigious FIFPRO Merit Award 2024 for his remarkable charitable efforts.

Onana’s foundation provides free medical care and life-changing surgeries across Sub-Saharan Africa. Each year, it assists nearly 500 African children in need.

Over the past three years, the foundation has conducted more than 1,200 surgeries in collaboration with medical professionals, primarily from Spain. Originally focused on helping blind children in Cameroon, Onana’s mission has expanded to offer a broader range of medical support, bringing hope and healing to countless lives.

"It’s about making a difference where it matters most," Onana said during the award ceremony. His work exemplifies the profound impact footballers can have off the pitch.

Since 2008, FIFPRO has recognized professional footballers who have made significant contributions to charitable causes through its Merit Awards. Onana joins a distinguished group of players whose efforts extend far beyond the game.
