Domenico Tedesco

Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco reflected on his team’s performance following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Italy in the UEFA Nations League.

The decisive moment came early in the match when Sandro Tonali found the back of the net, securing all three points for the Italians.

“We weren’t as active as we wanted to be in the first 20 minutes,” Tedesco told UEFA’s official website. “After that, the game shifted. We had some good moments, controlled parts of the match, but simply missed our opportunities.”

A Learning Curve for Belgium’s Young Squad

Tedesco pointed to the inexperience within his squad as a key factor, emphasizing the developmental phase the team is undergoing.

“We have a young team, with many players just beginning their journey at this level. It’s an exciting process to experience moments like these,” he added.

Belgium Out of Nations League Finals

With this result, Italy and France secured their spots in the playoffs from Group A2, while Belgium has been eliminated from contention for the UEFA Nations League Finals.
