Ruud van Nistelrooy Leaves Manchester United as Ruben Amorim Assembles New Coaching Staff
Ruud van Nistelrooy and his coaching team have officially departed Manchester United following the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim.
Van Nistelrooy's time at Old Trafford has come to a swift end, as Amorim has chosen to bring his trusted assistants from Sporting Lisbon. Journalist Laurie Whitwell reports that Van Nistelrooy, alongside René Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Peter Morrell, will not be part of Amorim's setup.
2024-25, English Premier League: Standings
The former United striker returned to the club in July, joining as an assistant to Erik ten Hag. After Ten Hag's dismissal, Van Nistelrooy was tasked with interim managerial duties, guiding the team during a transitional period. Despite signing a two-year deal, his contract was terminated as Amorim finalized his plans.
Earlier reports indicated that Van Nistelrooy was interested in remaining at United in a supporting role. However, Amorim’s decision to rebuild his staff around familiar colleagues left no room for the Dutchman to stay.
This marks a significant shift for United as they look to rebound under Amorim's leadership with a fresh coaching philosophy.
