Legendary Argentine forward Lionel Messi insists that his compatriot Lautaro Martínez deserves the Ballon d'Or "more than anyone else."

Lautaro is among the 30 candidates for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, with the winner set to be announced in Paris on October 28.

"He had an outstanding year. He scored in the Copa América final and finished as the top scorer. He deserves the Ballon d'Or more than anyone else," said Messi.

This season, Lautaro won the Scudetto with Inter and lifted the Copa América with the Argentine national team. He was also the top scorer in both competitions.
