Zhytomyr club announced the resignation of the coach

Yury Kalitvintsev has resigned as a head coach of Polissya, the club’s official website reports.

The coach made this decision due to unsuccessful performances in recent matches - Polissya cannot win for six UPL games in a row. The last time the Zhytomyr team won was on November 11 last year in a match against Metalist 1925 (2:1).

55-year-old Kalitvintsev was appointed as a head coach of Polissya on June 15, 2021. Under his leadership, the team won the First League of Ukraine in the 2022/23 season. Polissya currently ranks fifth in the UPL standings, gaining 33 points after 20 rounds.

Serhii Shishchenko, who until recently headed Zvyagel from the Second League of Ukraine, will act as head coach of Polissya until the end of the season.
