Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is the 2023 Formula 1 champion. The Dutchman's main competitor, Sergio Perez, retired in the sprint at the Qatar Grand Prix and lost chances of overtaking his teammate. Verstappen thus won his third title after successes in 2021 and 2022.

Max eventually finished second in the sprint, and the first place was taken by Australian Oscar Piastri from Mclaren, for whom this was his debut victory in Formula 1.
