Klopp: When the goalkeeper is man of the match, something is going wrong for the other team

Added at:

Jürgen Klopp felt Liverpool would have been deserving of more from the Champions League final after they fell to a 1-0 defeat by Real Madrid in Paris.

"When the goalkeeper is man of the match, something is going wrong for the other team. Courtois made three incredible saves, but I would have loved to have more chances of this calibre. In the final third, some of the crosses we made towards Courtois didn’t make much sense."

"It’s not incredible, it’s just a normal football result. We had a lot more shots and shots on target, but the most decisive stat is absolutely on Madrid’s side. They scored a goal and we didn’t – that’s the easiest explanation in the world of football. It’s harsh, but we respect that of course."

"We wanted to play more in and around their formation in the second half. The problem is, when you play against Real Madrid and they play that deep, their counterattacking threat is immense. I saw us doing a lot of good things, but it was not enough. We accept that."
