UEFA Europa Conference League

Seven matches, seven victories—this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League appears tailor-made for Chelsea. The London side continued its flawless campaign with a 2–1 triumph in Copenhagen, taking a major step toward the Quarter-Final.

The first half provided little excitement, with the two sides combining for a solitary shot on target—registered by Copenhagen. Chelsea were forced into an early substitution, as Malo Gusto left the pitch with an injury and Marc Cucurella came on to replace him. Manager Enzo Maresca then made further adjustments during the break, introducing Levi Colwill, Enzo Fernandez, and Christopher Nkunku.

Those tweaks paid immediate dividends. Barely a minute into the second half, Reece James opened the scoring with a sharp low drive into the far bottom corner—Chelsea’s first shot on target all evening. Twenty minutes later, a turnover in midfield led to George slipping a perfect pass to Enzo Fernandez, who calmly doubled the Blues’ lead.

Though Copenhagen had been on the back foot for much of the contest, they managed to claw one back in the 79th minute when Lopez delivered a pinpoint set-piece cross for Magalhaes to head past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Despite that late strike, the Danish side could not pull level, leaving Chelsea with yet another victory in Europe’s tertiary competition.

The two teams will meet again at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea will look to maintain their immaculate run and continue their pursuit of the UEFA Europa Conference League crown.
